We are pleased to announce that the 6th International Postgraduate Conference hosted by the Department of Applied Social Sciences, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University will be held from 22 – 24 September 2016 in Hong Kong. The theme of this multi-disciplinary conference is “Finding Futures in Uncertainties”.

Today risks are normal part of our lives -- economic instabilities, threats of extreme climate changes, environmental disasters, international conflicts, terrorist attacks, cyber security and surveillance, competing ideologies and beliefs, proliferations of labour unrests, food scandals, new epidemics, stress, mental health and growing inequalities are all key concerns not only considered by many as sources of global uncertainties. They have also attracted rapid growth of attention for social science research, especially for exploring ways to predict, prevent and manage them as well as to carve out possible futures.

This conference aims to bring together both local and international postgraduate students and other researches of various disciplines to examine the current uncertainties while simultaneously sharing new and emerging ideas and visions for future social development in a multi-disciplinary research perspective that incorporates Anthropology, Cultural Studies, Political Sciences, Policy Studies, Gender Studies, Social Work, Psychology, Philosophy, Communication and Health Sciences.

Registration for this conference is free for both local and overseas participants.
